Find a Domain
You need to have a domain. This is the name of the site or the URL that you type into a browser to get to your website.
http://google.com is an example of a domain name.
To find a domain, you can use a tool like the one at BustAName.com. They give you two ways to find a quality domain name that is perfect for you. We suggest that you register your domain with 1and1 (detailed instructions below), but you once you find the name you want you can choose to register it with whomever you want.
There are two ways to find domains with BustAName. You can type in the name you want into the Quick Domain Check Tool and it will show you whether the .com, .net, or .org versions are available. Or you can type in key words, find synonyms, group the words and Bust A name will generate all the domains that match your criteria. Either way, this is an extremely useful tool and we have provided instructions for both below.
The first way, is to just type in a domain name and wait for the results to come back:

Or you can put in keywords to find the domain of your dreams. As you add keywords, BustAName will look for combinations and show you all the domains available from those combinations:
For each word in your list, you can click the blue arrow to find synonyms of this word.
You can also group similar words together so that you create domains that make sense.
Now that you have your favorite domain name and you know that it is available, it is time to register the name. You can do this through Bust A Name, through your hosting company (you get one free with
DreamHost), or through
1and1. We will show you both DreamHost and 1and1.
