Plugins are one of the best features of WordPress. They allow you to extend the functionality of the default WordPress site to do thousands of different things. All you have to do is put a couple files in the right place on your server using the built-in Plugin Installer or sometimes via FTP (see How to use an FTP program at the end of this book) and then activate the plugin. Its simple!
We go through the basics of installing plugins as well as some of the plugins we ALWAYS install on WordPress sites below. If you are interested, you should search through the WordPress plugins site to find plugins for anything and everything you could possibly want WordPress to do.
To manage your plugins, click the word “Plugins” in the left side menu
As you can see some plugins come already installed on your website. Do not activate them unless you are sure you want to have them. They will affect how your website appears to readers
