Allows you to put anything you want in the sidebar of your site. This can be plain text or HTML, which leaves the possibilities to be endless.
Typically, people will put images, JavaScript, social media links, or many other things in the text widget. Remember to click "Save".

Widgets were a HUGE deal when WordPress added them in as a feature, before adding them in to the core system widgets functionality was added through a plugin. This was clumsy but it worked well at the time.
